Tile & Cup Site Specific Commission, 2025

Interior tiles with glazes made of demolished school bricks

Sitting behind the coffee machine at Home Economics cafe, this series of 14 tiles celebrates process and experimentation. Each tile is A4 in size and has a different glaze applied to the surface, from silky smooth coffee tones, to lava-like crater glaze.

Demolished school bricks, deep red-brown in colour, were collected from 33 Saxon Street in 2024. After further crushing, milling and research and development, a material palette of the site was created.

Commissioned by These Are The Projects We Do Together for Home Economics, a cafe and reception space within Balam Balam Place, Brunswick.
